Karlsberger Architecture Loses Case Against Ohio State University
An Ohio state claims court judge on Dec. 6 dismissed a 2009 suit against Ohio State University by Karlsberger Architecture Inc., Columbus, that sought $1.3 million in design fees for completed work after the university terminated the firm on its 1-million-sq-ft ProjectONE hospital megaproject. The firm was replaced in its role on the $1-billion project by HOK, the job's master planner.

Tulane University wins sustainable architecture competition
According to the Tulanian, the official magazine of the New Orleans-based private university, Judith Kinnard - professor of architecture - and Tiffany Lin - assistant professor of architecture - desinged a house that met with the competition's challenge to come up with a design for a house that can be easily built and to operate off the grid in case of emergencies or war.

Norman Foster to Design Apple's New Cupertino Campus?
In designing Apple's campus, Foster is reportedly drawing on his experience with Masdar City, a new sustainable community under development in Abu Dhabi designed to house up to 50,000 people in a car-free, zero-carbon environment powered entirely by renewable energy sources.

Architectural heritage. A restoration job on Lombard Bank’s annexe in Valletta was rewarded by Din l-Art Ħelwa yesterday for its “outstanding and significant contribution to Maltese cultural heritage and to the achievement of architectural heritage in general”.

Architecture Paper Notices Humble Hana Building
An architecture publication has a segment today, complete with a beautiful overexposed photo set, of the Wyckoff Exchange development that houses soon-to-open Hana Food grocery and wine shop, and a bar/venue to be named Radio Bushwick.

Designers of The Waterhouse at South Bund hotel in Shanghai were awarded the prestigious 'Architectural Review Emerging Architecture Award 2010' by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

UM: Architecture Dean
The Boston Globe reports on a feud between Monica Ponce de Leon, who’s now dean of the University of Michigan College of Architecture & Urban Planning, and Nader Tehrani, her former partner in the Boston architectural firm Office dA, which the Globe describes as “one of the nation’s most innovative design practices.”

Work begins on OMA's Maggie's Centre
The building will go up in the grounds of the Gartnavel Hospital and will be close to the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. OMA’s single level building will run across 534sq m and features a flat roof and floor levels that follow the natural topography, meaning the rooms vary in height.

Architecture and the Building of Cognitive Maps
An interesting study coming out of Notre Dame‘s Department of Psychology. Investigating how architecture can affect one’s cognitive map to help them navigate and identify their surroundings, Professor Laura Carlson has published the report, “Getting Lost in Buildings,” in the journal Current Direction in Psychological Science.

2010 Aga Khan Award for Architecture
Every three years, the world of architecture gets together to recognize the best projects that have been built. His Royal Highness, the Aga Khan, himself, established The Aga Khan Award for Architecture, the highest award in the field of architecture in 1977.

The Tunisian project, which involves the rehabilitation of large segments of the Tunisian 19th architectural heritage in the center of the capital, was carried out by the Association of the Preservation of the Tunis Medina (old town).
