Jeff Koons this week revealed his latest creation in Paris, BMW Art Car number 17. Koons and his staff have been working on the brightly colored design since February.

Alice in Wonderland Discs Boast Trippy Concept Art
After surpassing $1 billion in ticket sales worldwide, Tim Burton’s epic reworking of Alice in Wonderland lands in DVD and Blu-ray versions Tuesday with a host of extras. Among the goodies: Pre-production renderings of the film’s trippy characters, including concept artist Bobby Chiu’s portrait of the Bandersnatch monster (pictured above).

Kalamazoo art museum features exhibit on flowers
KALAMAZOO, Mich. The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is hosting a new exhibition about flowers featuring works from its holdings. "Flowers in Art: Selections from the Collection" opens Saturday and runs through Sept. 12 at the museum in Kalamazoo. The selections on display feature flowers as a centerpiece, adornment and decorative motif.

Kimbell Art Museum releases final design for addition to Kahn's original
The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas today released the final design for Italian architect Renzo Piano's addition to Louis Kahn's masterful original building (left) and its powerful vaults of concrete. The design, projected to cost $125 million, calls for a two-part building to the west of Kahn's original on space now occupied by a lawn.

It is not news, at least in the art world, that there's a gallery scene on Manhattan's Lower East Side. It is news that, as of this spring, that scene seems to have finally, fully arrived. Washingtonians spending Memorial Day weekend in New York could do worse than to head to the Lower East Side -- the downtown neighborhood east of the Bowery, south of Houston Street -- and take in its art.
