AERB to probe presence of radioactive material on campus
Two days after the source of radioactive material that killed one and left several others ill was traced to Delhi University's Chemistry Department, Vice-Chancellor Deepak Pental on Friday said the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board team had been told to investigate all claims pertaining to the presence of radioactive material on the campus.

Chemistry professor named CSU Educator of the Year
COLUMBUS, GA - Columbus State University has named Associate Professor of Chemistry Floyd Jackson as its Educator of the Year for 2009-2010. Jackson, who joined CSU in 1997 and chairs the university's Department of Chemistry in the College of Letters and Science, accepted the award during Columbus State's annual Scholastic Honors Convocation on Friday afternoon.

Tip of the Week: Chemistry in Word
Chemistry students and teachers might want to check out the new Chem4Word add-on for Microsoft Word. The free software, which was developed by Microsoft Research and the Unilever Center for Molecular Science Informatics at the University of Cambridge, allows Word users to insert chemical symbols, formulas and even 2-D models of molecules into documents.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The American Chemical Society recently bestowed one of its top honors on UNC-CH and N.C. State chemistry professor Joseph DeSimone.
The group picked DeSimone, an inventor and entrepreneur, for the Harrison Howe Award.
