White House North Lawn becomes a construction zone
WASHINGTON — People walking by the front lawn of the White House can expect to see some mixture of construction crews, rigs and chain-link fencing for the next two years.
The executive mansion has launched the first major upgrade to its utility systems in more than 40 years.

Construction Spending Declined in March
Spending on construction was running at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $847.3 billion in March, down 12.3% from a year earlier, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Spending on nonresidential construction led the decline in March, falling 17.4% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $586.8 billion.

Construction of Dawson Co. motorsports park adds jobs
DAWSONVILLE - Twenty-seven people have new-found employment thanks to the construction of a motorsports park in Dawsonville. Jeremy Porter, CEO of Atlanta Motorsports Park, said Wednesday that 25 people have been rehired by TW Phillps, a Dawsonville grading company, and two contractors have been hired by logging company Martin Timber.

Spielberg to Produce Ground Zero Project
Architectural Record has a brief story about Rebuilding Ground Zero, a six-part TV documentary about the construction efforts at the site of the former World Trade Center that is being executive produced by Steven Spielberg. The show will air on the Science Channel in fall 2011 to mark the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
