Rumor: iPad 2 Design Similar to iPod Touch
An unnamed source has revealed a few new details surrounding the upcoming 2nd generation iPad, reporting that it will measure 3-mm (0.11-inches) smaller than the original model while retaining the same 9.7-inch screen dimensions. Overall the new iPad is expected to measure 9.41-inches (h) x 7.32-inches (w).

Titan Industries design new gold Nano
To celebrate the 5000th anniversary of Indian jewelry, Tata Group along with Titan is set to produce a gold finish Tata Nano, the world's cheapest car. Titan, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, will launch the first pure gold jewelry car coined as the Goldplus Nano by April-May 2011.

Electronic Design Names Magma's Tekton To 2010 Hot 100 Products List
SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 22, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Magma® Design Automation (Nasdaq:LAVA), a provider of chip design software, today announced that Electronic Design named the Tekton™ static timing analysis platform to its list of Hot 100 Products for 2010. Facebook users displeased with profile re-design
On Sunday, Facebook introduced a new, more expansive version of their profile pages. The aim of the company via this move is to encourage greater interaction between users by integrating more images and re-organizing all profile information. However, like any other change to Facebook’s interface, users were displeased with the changes.

Konstantin Grcic on Being Designer of the Year at Design Miami
Design Miami, the annual design-art fair being held in Miami Beach through Dec. 5, has named the German industrial designer Konstantin Grcic designer of the year. The selection of Mr. Grcic (pronounced GER-chich) was a surprise to many.

Ford Hires Max Wolff to Be Design Director for Lincoln
Mr. Wolff, 38, comes from Cadillac, where he has been in charge of exteriors. At Cadillac, he has been working on the upcoming larger model, shown as the XTS Platinum concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last January. At recent auto shows, he has been involved in presentations of the CTS coupe.

Fashion Designs to Get Copyright Protection?
The Senate Judiciary Committee has just passed the Innovative Design Protection and Piracy Prohibition Act (IDPPPA) granting limited copyright protection to fashion designs. Bills protecting the work of fashion designers have come up before in both the Senate and the House, but have never made it out of committee.

Gawker's Redesign Is Strikingly Similar To Twitter's New Design
This is true! I do think this — Gawker is still, and always has been, just a nicely designed blog. Same goes for its sister sites. But what neither Nick mentioned is an idea that I've shared with them both, that Gawker's redesign to me shows an interesting convergence around a pattern that is best exemplified by, of all things, the new Twitter design.

Mercedes-Benz BIOME to enter production to compete with BMW
At the 2010 LA Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz’s California design studio showed the Biome concept, a 4-passenger coupe that looks like a science project. According to AutoCar, a the Biome concept actually previews a full-sized mid-engined eco supercar that will go head-to-head with the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics in 2015.
