Astronomers find black holes gain weight during galaxy collisions
Giant black holes in the centers of galaxies grow mainly as a result of intergalactic collisions, according to results presented by a group of astronomers led by Dr. Ezequiel Treister from UH Mānoa's Institute for Astronomy, published in the March 25 issue of the international journal Science.
