April 20, 2010 at 6:04am - SecurityToday at work I found out that one of our client's websites got hacked (I wasn't responsible for the coding). Perhaps it's because of poor coding, or something else. It's pretty bad all around. And the worst part is that my company uses the same password for everyone, and it's not even a long and complicated one at that.
CODERS: Make sure to check, recheck and check again to make sure the code is at least safe. Disgruntled employees are a totally different story. With MajorIndulgence, I've tried to break my own code and find errors to troubleshoot. Hopefully there are no major flaws anywhere.

April 18, 2010 at 2:09am - DevelopmentI have to give Google a lot of credit for helping me develop MajorIndulgence. There were so many times where I got stuck on a coding problem, and eventually solved it by searching for what I wanted. Maybe I'll find the meaning of life from Google?

April 17, 2010 at 9:09pm - DevelopmentBeing a one-man show isn't easy: I have to do design work, contribute content, and do my best to promote the site. Any one of those consumes a lot of time, but to handle all three (plus holding down a full-time day job) seems insurmountable. At this stage I certainly can't afford to hire anyone to come on board, so I suppose my only option (if I needed help) would be to find business partners to join me on this venture. The only problem is: no one would ever be as enthusiastic about MajorIndulgence as I am.

April 14, 2010 at 12:47am - EntrepreneurshipI was having a conversation during lunch about entrepreneurship, and we both agreed that parents can potentially be the single most damaging factor when it comes to your dreams and ambitions. More after the jump...

April 13, 2010 at 3:27am - EntrepreneurshipFinding a business partner to start up a great idea can be tough. I've spoken with four potential people myself before deciding to follow through with MajorIndulgence on my own. The key to finding great partners is to understand that your business is essentially a jigsaw puzzle, and all the pieces need to be there in order to complete it. If you find people that kinda-sorta fit into the puzzle, they're no good. It must be just the right piece. More after the jump...

April 11, 2010 at 3:17am - EntrepreneurshipOn the entire Internet, how many websites are there in existence? Way too many. There's just a gigantic ocean of published material out there. The image above is pretty self-explanatory. Either you stand out in some way or get lost among the many others. You can stand out by having a product/service that features something very unique, or you can stand out in marketing or in customer relations. Hell, you might even stand out by pulling off a giant publicity stunt. The important thing is not how you go about standing out, but that you do
something, anything, out of the ordinary. Even notoriety is better than obscurity.
I was watching Real Time with Bill Maher yesterday, and he had Chris Rock as his one of his guests. Rock said that if you want to get shit done and win, you have to be willing to take a punch, alluding to any great boxer having to take a few punches to win a fight. So if you have a bold idea to get your name out there, might as well push it through than to be reserved about it.

April 8, 2010 at 9:24am - DesignI can't help it. It's just in my nature to be OCPD about little things. But I feel that they always add up. Earlier tonight, I finished up redesigning the topics page to have bigger titles, and highlighted the navigation throughout the entire site. I still have an exhaustive list of things I want to adjust, but as I've written before, the focus right now needs to be on marketing and advertising. I should leave the site as a beta for now.
