Overcrowding on the Internets

On the entire Internet, how many websites are there in existence? Way too many. There's just a gigantic ocean of published material out there. The image above is pretty self-explanatory. Either you stand out in some way or get lost among the many others. You can stand out by having a product/service that features something very unique, or you can stand out in marketing or in customer relations. Hell, you might even stand out by pulling off a giant publicity stunt. The important thing is not how you go about standing out, but that you do something, anything, out of the ordinary. Even notoriety is better than obscurity.

I was watching Real Time with Bill Maher yesterday, and he had Chris Rock as his one of his guests. Rock said that if you want to get shit done and win, you have to be willing to take a punch, alluding to any great boxer having to take a few punches to win a fight. So if you have a bold idea to get your name out there, might as well push it through than to be reserved about it.
