What Internet Security program are you using? Do you like it? Does it work well? Here you can let us all know what internet security program you're using and your likes and dislikes about the program. There are a plethora of Security Software out there and several of them cost an arm and a leg to use for only a year. My question is, are they worth the price? What does a security program that requires a subscription do that a freeware security program doesn't? Please, let us know.

The following is a list of Security Programs I have used in the past:

ESET Smart Security
ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus
McAfee Total Protection
AVG Anti-Virus Professional
Avira Anti-Virus
Norton Anti-Virus
CA Internet Security Suite
Trend Micro Internet Security
Kaspersky Internet Security

Of the above, the only one I would recommend is ESET Smart Security, or if all you need is a good anti-virus then I would recommend ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus. When I play a game or use a program that requires a disk, I like to crack the program so I can use it without having to rummage through my junk searching for the disk, this allows me to install the game, then put the disk back in its case and put the case away so the disk doesn't get lost or scratched. The two ESET programs were the only two that didn't detect my cracks as a virus, all of the others through up notifications that a virus or a Trojan was going to infect my computer, very annoying. Anyway, let us know what programs you're using and what you've used in the past, which programs you've liked, and which ones you uninstalled shortly after installing!

Speaking of Internet security, everyone should do themselves a favor and use any web browser other than Internet Explorer.   Uh, as a web developer I despise it.

Avast is the only way to go. I've used many anti-viruses just to become familiar with how each of them functions so that I may have an authoritative stance when discussing the topic. Now, after using Avast for nearly 3 months, I'd have to say it's the best that I've ever used. The free version worked well enough that I eventually went Pro and purchased a year subscription. It's really nice and uses little resources. It runs very quietly in the background, punching viruses in the face and kicking spy-ware in the ass! Definitely download the free version and join the revolution!
