let's assume it's individual work.

when i was in college, i would always go to odegaard library at the UW. it was very public and not the quiet type of library either. i like to be surrounded by people and light background noise when i'm working.

dead silence is usually not for me.

I like dead silence or faint background noise. The location doesn't matter much.

I study with a classmate whenever possible. It's always nice to get help from someone next to you.

In my own house, at my own desk, with music blaring in the background is how I like to get my work done. Music helps me concentrate oddly enough, silence puts me sleep, and working with other people tends to leave me either doing all of the work and teaching others, or me doing none of the work and learning nothing by copying. Copying is the typical result of group cooperation so I try to steer clear of working with others.

I can relate to this a lot. It's really difficult trying to find dependable group members to do a project and are all on the same page. I've been pretty fortunate to have great group members during my two years in the architecture major who are willing and capable of pulling their own weight. But all throughout high school and earlier group dynamics were definitely not the best.

What I'm saying is group work can be a joy only if you manage to find the right people.
