I always see this as a problem, especially with people who first discover Photoshop. They over-use filters and it ends up looking too filtered. I think there are only a handful of good practical filters, when used in moderation, can enhance a rendering. For example using the Gaussian blur for certain lighting effects or for background buildings/landscapes.

People are looking to Photoshop for quick fixes to their project and trying to save time, but really there's no shortcuts unless you want your final rendering to look like ass.
