Topic: I must be the most ridiculously neat and clean person ever. |
I live in a studio condo by myself and it looks like this ALL the time. When things are not needed, they are tucked away in drawers, cupboards, closets, etc. I like the way it looks, and the place seems bigger because I left pretty much everything completely stark. This is how someone like me with OCD-like organizational standards lives.
I love just letting the architecture be the aesthetic. Nothing else needs to be added.
And so far, I've never met anyone in real life in my 24 years of being alive that lives even remotely similar to my standards. I get criticized for it all the time, but I never listen. In the end it's my place so my preferences are all that's needed.

I would love to live in those kinds of conditions. I can't stand clutter. If something isn't being used, it belongs out of sight. I like things to be overly organized, even alphabetized if need be like my spice cabinet and DVD shelf. It just makes finding things when I need them much easier if every little thing has its own specific space. Other people don't understand this fact and live in clutter. Even my fridge, certain things have certain shelves and they always go in the same spot. My girlfriends parents don't obey this rule and it's always weird to me when I'm helping them clear the table and they tell me to just put things anywhere in the fridge. If you just put things anywhere, you will more than likely forget about it until 6 months later when you're digging for something else and come across it again. Which is why I think everything should have its place, not just things in the fridge, but everything in the entire house. You might hate it at first, but after a while, you'll begin to love knowing exactly what you have and where it's located. If you need organizers, refer to the posts about cardboard organizers!

I think a lot of people think that there's too much maintenance involved in keeping a clean place, but once you get into the habit of organization, it will just come naturally like putting on a seatbelt in a car.
This reminds me...I remember watching an episode of a TV show called "Hoarders" or something like that, where professional organizers go into the messiest homes ever and clean it up. Those hoarders collect EVERYTHING and never throw anything out. It's like they're trying to compensate for something in their life.
I would have a panic attack if I had to live in those homes for a day.
