Topic: Well that's why Congress seems to pass bad legislation. |
The bills are insanely long. It's like reading a very very long boring novel. H.R. 4173 is 1,279 pages!
http://majorindulgence.com/u/30 Makes me wonder how many members of Congress actually read that front to back. Or did everyone just trust some Joe Blow assistant to read it and summarize it accurately. Jeez. The value of the dollar is going down the toilet.

I wish I had all the answers, then I wouldn't need to ask any questions. Questions like, is the only reason you propose a bill that is over one thousand pages long so that no one will even read it? Or, Does Congress really KNOW what they're doing or are they just making highly educated science assisted guesses? And, when do fish sleep? All are questions I wish I knew the answer to, and according to most people of the world who couldn't care less about politics, all are equally important. Whatever, I just know that whatever kind of bill they pass, it will have the most benefit for themselves, because deep down that's all they care about.

As long as corporate lobbying is legal, Congress is inevitably affected in its decisions. For every Congressman/Congresswoman, there are dozens of lobbyists with wads of cash to throw at them. Many of these financial contributions are labeled as "donations to the campaign" or something like that, but really they're all trying to influence the vote on bills.
