I visit this site quite often. They basically aggregate all the most useful free software for the PC. They do not redirect you to other sites; you download the software from them.

There's also Version Tracker, but they mix up too much shareware apps and other apps that nobody really uses. FileHippo seems to keep it just down to the essentials in each category.
