Topic: grow mushroom at my room |
i just joined the University of Washington Mycological Society Club. I am starting to try grow mushroom at my home.
I will record all the steps I did and post here. Chapter 1:
Open my own mushroom farm. :)

Chapter 2:
things you need to grow mushroom at your home:
1. a jar mushroom spawn from me, you can get it from me for only $10
2. a bag of vermiculite, you can get it from home depot or any nursery store
3. a pressure cooker to kill the germs , or you can use a sauce pan
4. a clear color container ---------

2. 蛭石--蛭石保水能力很强， 满足了蘑菇生长期对水分和高湿度的要求。
3.高压锅 --用来灭菌
4. 容器--透明塑料盒

Chapter 3:
steps to plant mushroom seeds:
1. Put vermiculite and water into the pressure cooker. Soak it until it settles to the bottom. Cook for about 30 minutes after it starts to boil. If you are using a saucepan, cook for 1 hour after it starts to boil.
2. use alcohol to clean the container and the top lid
3. put the cooked vermiculite into the container about 2 inches. make sure it cools down first.
4. put mushroom spawn on the top of vermiculite
5. put the cooked vermiculiteon the top of mushroom sawn about half inch. make sure it cools down first.
6. cover the container lid and put it in the Shower room (bathroom), 65F -----------

1. 将蛭石放入高压锅灭菌
2. 用酒精将塑料盒灭菌
3. 将灭菌的蛭石平铺于塑料盒底部，厚度为2英寸
4. 然后将蘑菇种子从 jar 中取出. 将碎蘑菇种均匀平铺于盒中的蛭石上
5. 最后在蘑菇种上铺1英寸的蛭石
6. 盖上合盖, 放在６５度的洗澡间里

Hi xxxx,
You don't need to water them because the seeds and the vermiculite are wet. after you done, cover the container lid. If you see the container inside of the wall is moisture, you don't need to water them. I modified the instruction last night.
1. mix the vermiculite and water together and let them stay about 4-6 hours. So the vermiculite can hold a lot of water.
2. boiling them with the water for 30 minutes.
3. remove the water.

I got the Oyster mushrooms from Fred Mayer and the king Oyster mushrooms from Japanese’s store to produce the mushroom spawn (seeds).

Note:
1. If you use a sauce pan to cook the VERMICULITE, it takes one hour.
将蛭石在普通锅里开水里煮一个小时后冷却使用可以达到相似的效果

一个月就能长出来蘑菇，采收期长短决定于生长条件，一般能收两三茬，最后剩下的料可种在木头上，等着靠天吃饭。

Oyster mushrooms are a wonderful fast and easy mushroom to grow. They grow primarily on cellulose waste products. This can be wood, sawdust, straw or even cottonseed hulls.
It is common for even the same oyster mushroom variety to appear different from one fruiting to the next. Sometimes the color of the mushroom cap changes depending on how much light is available at the time of fruiting. High Carbon Dioxides levels will even change the shape of the mushrooms grown.
Oyster mushrooms are one of the few mushrooms that are required to be started in a timely fashion or the mushroom will find its way out of the jar on it’s own without your help and fruit. This can be quit a surprise.

Q: ne0987, two questions for you.....should I mist spray at all ? Should my growing box get light and how much. Thanks, xxxx

I asked a mycologist regarding your questions. he replied in Chinese. I use the google to translate it to Chinese. Hope it helps.
If the mushroom growth of normal in general is no need to spray;
If very severe contraction of culture medium, indicating the need to spray, and spray the principle can not have stagnant water;
With regard to the issue of light, general low-light on it. I recommend everybody's conditions: indoor, light, non-direct light.
如果蘑菇省长很正常一般没必要喷水;
如果培养料收缩得很厉害,说明是需要喷水了, 喷水的原则是不能有积水;
关于光的问题,一般弱光就可以了.我推荐大家的条件:室内,有光,非直射光. Q: when I remove the seeds from the jar do I break them up or plant the whole thing in one lump ? I promise I will leave you alone for now. sorry for so many emails.Thanks again for all the help, xxxx

I haven't up date my mushroom for long time because it was so small. I feel disappointed. I just leave them outside. Today I find out they are still alive! And have a few mushrooms come out! The mushroom caps are also bigger than before. :)
