I have a matte finish LCD on my laptop, but I sit very close to a window and often times on bright days everything gets washed out. I hope someone out there is working on a solution to this common problem.

I don't know. The natural light is competing with the LCD backlight.

I think laptops are just meant to be viewed indoors with artificial lighting.
