and it's worked so well too. there used to be all kinds of vandalism on there during the early years but now it seems that most people are respectful of articles.

I'm definitely surprised by how civil people are towards Wikipedia. And anyone who tries to vandalize nowadays immediately gets banned.

I know what you mean...English professors are always saying "Don't use Wikipedia. Anyone can edit it." What they fail to realize is that any changes to a Wiki get reviewed by numerous editors and if it's factual information it typically gets added unless it's previously been stated. If the submitted changes are complete bull shit, they don't get added, and the user who submitted the changes usually gets banned if too many bogus changes are submitted!
