Topic: I find it very difficult to feel sorry for the whale trainer who died. |
Hmmm....they're called killer whales.
And they're big, kept in a tiny space, for the rest of their lives, and have to do stupid tricks in order to eat.
That would make anyone depressed and frustrated.
Bottom line: Whale and dolphins do not belong in captivity.
But as long as show-whales and show-dolphins are big business, it'll continue to happen.

Wasn't there assumed to be a high risk of casualty during the application process?? You're working with a "domesticated" wild Animal...it's a wonder why it took THIS long for something like it to happen! It'd be like someone who is a routine base jumper dying because of a chute failure, or a free runner dying because of a 5 story descent to solid concrete. I'm sure there is some fine print somewhere that clearly states, "Chance of serious injury or death: 63%." Or something to that effect. Anyway, the trainer knew the risk when he took the job, so the fact that he got eaten shouldn't surprise anyone...
