For me that would definitely be a YES. I tend to spend a premium for higher quality tech items than I do for any other category of stuff I buy. Being a web developer and designer, that really shouldn't come as a surprise though.

I enjoy having nice things. But nice things come with high price tags, and being a college student, high price tags really are of little interest to me at the moment. But if there were a category of items that I never spare an expense when purchasing, it would have to be electronics. A shirt is a shit and a pair of pants is a pair of pants regardless of the price, food is still just food no matter the cost. But a computer can be all sorts of things. For example, a computer could be slow, fast, noisy, broken, attractive, etc. The quality of these attributes depend on the amount of coin you put into the purchase. $400 now a days will get you by with a decent computer that can be used for internet, email, and low-resource games like Chuzzle and Bejeweled. $1000 will get you something even better that will more than likely be upgradable when newer better components are released, such as a new processor or graphics card. $2000 will get you something that will be pretty up-to-date and you shouldn't have to worry about upgrading for a while, like a few years. Also, $2000 dollars worth of computer almost guarantees you'll be amazed at how fast it functions. When it comes to electronics, computers especially, I generally shell out the extra $$$ to get the better item. When in doubt, buy the more expensive one, it's almost always better!
