I don't like surfing the Internet on a mobile phone, I don't text msg.

I would like to combined a phone with my music though. But there's overall not enough incentive. I'd rather get an SSD drive.

Me either, I feel that the more a phone is capable of, the more of a distraction it becomes. Phones should not be able to get on the internet. That's what computers are for. I recently went to King's Island Amusement park in Ohio and noticed that the majority of people would be on their phones while standing in line or walking around the park, I overheard an elderly man (by elderly I mean maybe 54 and technology illiterate) say to his wife, "What did people do in line before cell phones?" I found it to be a very interesting question and tried to imagine what the world would be like if we didn't have cell phones. It'd be one less bill I'd have to pay, one less thing I'd have to keep track of, one less distraction while in class or standing in line for a roller coaster, movie theaters wouldn't have to spend money on infomercials telling the audience to turn their cell phones off, every third commercial on TV wouldn't be Verizon vs. AT&T, and people wouldn't be bowing down to Steve Jobs while he bathes in their money. It would most definitely be different. I do miss phones that were just that, a phone, no camera, no texting, no pictures, no ringtones, no games, just a freaking phone!

Good points.

I also don't like the fact that if you have a smart phone, they force you to get a data plan with it.

same here. It's like a subscription fee almost. You pay out the ass for the phone in the first place, then you have to pay a fixed data plan fee every month just to use the phone, even if all you use it for is it's main purpose, a phone.

I hear there are ways to circumvent this issue, but I'd rather wait until the service providers offer it outright to disable data plans.
