Overview
Architectural Studies is the study of the design, theory and history of man-made buildings.
Detailed Curriculum
Studio classes:
The most critical and weighted classes are studios. A student's performance in these classes is considered paramount above all others. There is typically one studio per quarter/semester, where students work on conceptualizing and designing a main project, ending with final presentations in front of guest judges. The amount of time that a typical architecture student spends on studio projects is usually more than the combined time spent on other classes.

Structural analysis:
Architecture students are required to understand basic structural elements in building design. The most important concepts are load bearing, weight distribution and material properties.
Career Prospects
You study architecture mostly to become an architect, and working within either the residential or commercial sector.
FYI - Things you must know
Sleep? What sleep?
An often talked about aspect of architectural studio is the large amount of time it consumes (often far beyond the expected time commitment). It is easily the most difficult and labor-intensive class every term, and may result in working into the night or even pulling all-nighters when projects are approaching deadlines. However, the stress is somewhat lessened by the camaraderie shared within each studio. Students commonly socialize with each other and also critique each other's work. It is generally considered a very supportive atmosphere.

Don't do it for the money:
There's a common saying among people who have worked within the industry for many years. They say that it's hard work, and you get paid relatively little compared to other design careers. Make sure that you absolutely love it.

Regrets about architecture:
According to some polls conducted by several architecture publications, over one-third of currently licensed architects have regrets about their career choice.
